Grumbling Does Not Honour God–Part 1

Posted by admin on Feb 18th, 2011

Grumbling is the act of complaining and muttering in discontent about someone or something. It is also aimed at finding fault or dissatisfaction about a situation. A complaining Christian is a contradiction to what God expects from them.

The biblical principle is set out in Philippians 2:14-15, “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.” This is a very important and powerful scripture from the Word of God and we should all take it seriously.

Our God does not condone grumbling as it stinks in His nostrils. Complaining or muttering about anything demonstrates a lack of faith in God. When we are faced with problems, we usually resort to grumbling, rather than trusting the Lord to handle them. We often focus on the problems instead of focusing on God and looking for the opportunities before us.

That was exactly what the children of Israel did when they were tested in the wilderness, on their way from Egypt to the Promised Land. They tried God’s patience because they refused to trust HIM completely. They were never satisfied with what the Lord did for them and this did not honour God at all.

The bible tells us in Numbers 14:26-30,”The Lord said to Moses, “How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the complaints of these grumbling Israelites. So tell them, “As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say: In this desert your bodies will fall – every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me. Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.”

Wow! This is very serious!  Because of the constant grumbling of the Israelites in the wilderness, they were judged by God and not allowed to enter the Promised Land. When they were grumbling against the Lord, they had spoken some idle words and the Lord said He would do those very things they had spoken with their mouth. That is one of the dangers of grumbling and speaking idle words, as they catch up with those who have spoken them.

We need to be very careful and avoid grumbling or muttering in discontent. There is a lot to gain if we avoid grumbling and trust God instead. We also need to learn to develop a non-complaining, positive attitude that will please the Lord and bring honour to HIM. God is pleased with those who have a heart of gratitude.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:

Grumbling Does Not Honour God-Part 2

Posted by admin on Feb 18th, 2011

In order to avoid grumbling in our walk with God, we can discipline our thoughts and meditate on the Word of God. The bible tells us in Romans 12:2, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

When you meditate on the above scripture, it will help cleanse your heart. Then you will be able to focus on who God is and develop a positive attitude in all aspects of your life. We can also discipline our thoughts by confessing our critical spirit and commit ourselves to obedience each time we fail. We can ask God to cleanse us each time we fail as He has promised in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

We also need to enlist God’s help and the help of others. Whilst we are doing this, we are commanded by the Word of God, “Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door.” The Holy Spirit will empower us as we depend on Him. It is not an impossible challenge to do all things without complaining because God helps us each step of the way.

We can ask God to help us stop grumbling when things don’t go our way. Instead of complaining, cultivate a habit of thanksgiving. Look around you and see the goodness of God and count all your blessings. Appreciate and celebrate the Almighty God everyday for the privilege of life, as it is not our right. He is a good God and He works miracles in our life everyday. Do not take all the goodness of God for granted.

The bible tells us in Lamentations 3:40, “Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.” God wants us to acknowledge our wrong behaviour and take responsibility. We need to look beyond a specific event or how we act in that situation. Leave other people’s sins to God and do not grumble about them. Leave them to God and deal with your own.

When we do things God’s way, it brings the end of frustration and the beginning of joy and fulfilment. We all have complaints about our job, money or situation in life. But when we commit everything to the Lord and trust Him totally, He will show up and help us deal with our issues. When you do this, you will enjoy your walk with God and have joy unspeakable.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.”

Grumbling Does Not Honour God-Part 3

Posted by admin on Feb 18th, 2011

King David, the Psalmist says in Psalm 39:1, “I said, “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth, as long as the wicked are in my presence.” King David chose not to complain about his problems to others, but instead to take his complaints directly to God. We should not grumble in front of others because it makes them think that the Lord is unable to take care of us or that we are blaming Him for our troubles.

We should endeavour to cut down how much we complain as complaining offends God. Believers should try and do what God has called them to do without grumbling or demonstrating the wrong attitude. Also, in our workplace, we should try and do everything as onto the Lord, and not our earthly employers.

God is our Chief Employer and He expects us to work to a very high standard, without grumbling. Even when your employers are not watching you, God is there with you and watching everything you do. This is more important than your earthly employers watching you themselves. God will reward you a hundredfold for a job well done.

Another example where grumbling happens is in the area of hospitality. The Word of God tells us in 1 Peter 4:9, “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” Hospitality can be hard work and it involves sacrifice. Nevertheless, the Lord expects us to do it ungrudgingly, cordially and graciously, without complaining.

When you do this, you represent God and bring glory to Him. Paul says in Romans 12:13, “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practise hospitality.” When we represent God in hospitality, we sacrifice our personal agenda and give our time and money. In doing this, we see others through God’s eyes. We must remember that, “the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7b

So, whatever we do for the Lord, whether in our closet or in the public, He is looking at out heart, and He sees whether we are operating under a grumbling spirit or not. This is more important as your reward comes from God and not from man.

Child of God, let God be glorified in all you do. Ask Him to help you and He will certainly do that. Once you invite God to help you, grumbling will be a thing of the past and you will be able to operate under divine favour. God will be honoured and glorified forever. Enjoy life without grumbling, to the glory of God.    PEACE

Walk By faith And Not By Sight – Part 1

Posted by admin on Feb 11th, 2011

Walking by faith and not by sight is simply operating under the confidence and covering of God. It is being sure of what you hope for, despite all the negative things you are seeing with your physical eyes. Faith is certain of what you do not see, despite all the odds.

Faith comes from hearing the Word of God. You hear His Word; you believe it and you receive from the Almighty God. As your faith grows, your spiritual walk with God will get stronger and deeper. Jesus Christ is the ONE who gives us a superior life of faith and in Him we have the victory.

Faith is a personal relationship with God, born of belief in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Faith in Christ is not about safety and caution. It is about believing Jesus and trusting Him, no matter what the situation you are facing. It is also about taking up a daily cross and living for God. We need to take up our cross with a willing heart and humbly follow Jesus.

Faith is not always an instrument of change; sometimes it is a means of survival. It gives you the patience to trust God when His will collides with yours. Sometimes, your faith is perfected more when things don’t change as you expected. You don’t need faith for what you can see, figure out or already attained. You need faith when life makes no sense and you have not got any explanation for what is happening.

Because we have a limited perspective, we limit our expectations of who God is and what He can do. We must try to see Him at work in whatever comes our way. He is always in the background, working things out for us. And even when we can’t see what God is doing, we can trust Him because He causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them.

Each of us exercises a measure of faith every day. Even the atheists have some sort of faith in something. Faith is one of the most common elements in our existence and without it, we would cease to function effectively. So, we need to walk with God, by faith and not by sight, on a daily basis. Once you decide to do this, you will never walk alone; God will be by your side always.

Amen.”

Walk By faith And Not By Sight – Part 2

Posted by admin on Feb 11th, 2011

For Christians, faith is necessary for salvation, for daily spiritual existence and for the hope that, someday, we will spend eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ, in Heaven. We must make sure that our faith is based on Christ and ask God to help our faith grow.

The Word of God says in Hebrews 11:6, “ And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seeks Him.” When you walk by faith, with God, you totally depend on Him. You do not walk by sight or by what you see, but you walk by what His Word says about your situation.

For example, your finances may be non-existent and your bank account may look unhealthy. That may be the fact you are seeing with your physical eyes, but it is not the truth of the matter. The truth of your finances is finalised in the Word of God, “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19. God is your Jehovah Jireh, who provides all your needs. So, your finances are settled through His Word.

Another example is in the area of your health. The doctors may have given you some unpleasant news. Yes, it may be the fact, but is not the truth as God has the final say in every area of your life. The truth about your health is finalised in the Word of God, which says, “He Himself (Jesus) bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24.

Child of God, that is the absolute truth about your health. Walk by faith and grab hold of the truth, which is the Word of God. Meditate on it, eat it, swallow it and digest it and see your situation change for your own good. God’s Word is very powerful and it is there for your use. God cannot lie and His Word is forever settled in Heaven. Everything concerning all aspects of your life is already settled through the Word of God. Do not allow what you see deceive you and stop you from receiving your miracle from God.

Whatever God has said about your situation will surely come to pass, if you believe Him without a shadow of doubt. Choose to walk by faith and not by what you are seeing. Speak God’s Word with boldness, believe Him and stand on His Word. Trust the Lord for the future and step out in faith. Venture into the unknown with faith in God and He will never drop you nor disappoint you.

Child of God, be willing to walk with God, hand in hand, into an uncertain future. If the Almighty has promised you something, be willing to entrust your future to His mighty Hand. You will be amazed at His goodness and divine favour.

Amen.”

Walk By faith And Not By Sight – Part 3

Posted by admin on Feb 11th, 2011

When you walk by faith, you do not focus on what you see because they are temporary. Instead, focus on the things you do not see, as they are eternal. Call those things that are not as though they were and your faith will be strengthened. You will experience the supernatural and the miraculous.

Instead of bleak unbelief, choose to open your heart and mind to have faith in God, as He has revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. As we move along on our earthly pilgrimage, we don’t need to stumble in the darkness of unbelief. Instead we can walk confidently with God, not going ahead of Him. The human part is to do whatever God has asked us to do, and God will do His own part.

You will find His blessings all out-poured, if you obey and do your part. Each of us comes to Jesus at a different level of spiritual understanding and Jesus extends His welcome to all who respond to His Word. The Saviour is approachable and His invitation is open to everyone. Those closest to us are watching our response to God through times of testing and blessing. They are watching our walk with God and see if we are living in faith and obedience.

The Word of God says in Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.”  It is only human to want to know where you are going or what you are getting into. But when you determine to walk with God, by faith, He will inform you on a daily basis. When you follow Him, you do it, not knowing where the Lord leads you, but believing what He has promised. And also being confident that no matter how He does it or how long it takes, He will keep to His promise.  Alleluia!

Being in God’s will does not exempt you from problems, but you can be “confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6.  God knows every step of your journey, the blessings, the dangers and the best path to take. He never intended you to figure out the steps without Him. Your responsibility is to seek His guidance and obey His instructions.

Your job is to trust God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. His job is to set your paths straight and lead you by the hand. There is no requirement for you to figure anything out. Just walk with God, by faith and not by sight, and He will never lead you astray.     PEACE

Pray Continually And Stay Connected To God – Part 1

Posted by admin on Dec 20th, 2010

When you pray to God, you are requesting something earnestly from Him and praising Him at the same time for all He has done for you. Prayer is a supplication or an entreaty to God, and it is a connection between you and The ALMIGHTY. It is like breathing, which has to be done without ceasing.

Prayer is also a two-way conversation between you and God; you talk to Him and He talks to you in return. Even though millions of us are praying to God in any given minute, He listens to each, individually, because He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient (all-knowing) God. So you should never feel less important when you pray, because to Him, you are the only one.

Be confident that God is giving you His full attention, on a one-to-one basis. His line is never engaged, there is no call waiting and there is no conference call. He speaks to you only and no one hears the conversation between you and God. The bible tells us in 1 Peter 3:12a, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer.” He is a loving and kind Father and He wants to hear from you all the time.

Your prayers ascend to God’s throne, regardless of the time and the form you use. It is not the words we pray that matter but the condition of our hearts matters to God. Whatever method you use, just talk to your Heavenly Father as He wants to hear what is on your heart. Since God is omniscient and He only desires the best for us, He does not always give us what we ask for, if He knows that it will not be good for us to have it at a particular time.

God’s ways are not our ways and our ways are not His ways. His timing is always perfect and we may not understand why God does the things He does. But we can have assurance in knowing that everything He does is perfect. Jesus told His disciples in Luke 18:1, “they should always pray and not give up”. Constant prayer means keeping our requests continually before God and believe that He will answer us.

If you live by faith and not by sight, you will not give up easily. God may delay answering some prayers but He has good reasons for His delays. We must never confuse this with neglect or denial to our prayers.  As you persist in prayers and keep knocking on God’s door, you will grow in character, faith and hope. Never, never give up. Keep looking up to the Almighty and be full of expectations from Him all the time.

In order to make the most of your time, take time to pray. When you can, step aside from your activities and prayerfully ask God to tune you to His Word and His will. Demands of work, family and church can require re-evaluation. We must not be too busy and neglect spending time with our Heavenly father. The time we spend with God is very important for our spiritual growth.

Amen.”

Pray Continually And Stay Connected To God – Part 2

Posted by admin on Dec 20th, 2010

One secret to praying better is to emphasize God’s will and not your will. His will for our life is all recorded in the bible, which is the manual for our life. His Word tells us in 1 John 5:14, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” If you align your prayers to His will and pray in accordance to His Word, He will listen.

You can be certain that God will give you a definite answer, if you pray in accordance with HIS Word and HIS will for your life. It is very important that we allow God’s will to be done in our lives. We need to put our own agenda aside and concentrate on God’s agenda, as laid out in His Word. Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians and urged them to “pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

As we travel along life’s rugged road, commune with the Father continually. Spending time with God each day can bring relief from stress. Cultivate a habit of spending quality time with Him in praise, worship and prayer. Lean on the Lord in order to keep your life in balance. God is never too busy to listen to us and He likes to hear from us.

Whenever we are ready to talk, the Lord is always ready to listen to us. The bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” When we pray, we must not see how God is working or understand how He will give us what we prayed for. Our part is to pray and His part is to listen and give us answers to our prayers.

Sometimes, we may remember a situation when God answered our prayers in an amazing way and we want Him to do the same again. But God may have something else or something better in mind. His answers to our prayers may exceed our expectations in many ways. The purpose of prayer is not to get what we want, but to become what God wants, as we submit to His ways. We need to allow God to examine our mind and heart; and walk in His truth.

God’s answers are wiser than our prayers and we need to have faith that trusts Him to do His work, in His way, not our way. Our Lord Jesus was submissive to His father’s way and will. Just before He was arrested to be crucified for our sin, He prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42. We need to follow our Lord’s example and submit to God always, as we pray.

God delights in the earnest prayers of His people and answers in His own sovereign way. When trials come and God seems far away, remember that you are just one prayer from connecting with the God of the universe. As we pray for ourselves, let us also intercede for our loved ones as well. God requires us to stand in the gap for our brethren and intercessory prayer is life’s real work.

Amen.”

Pray Continually And Stay Connected To God – Part 3

Posted by admin on Dec 20th, 2010

When we pray, we have to trust God completely, relinquish our rights and let God do what is best for us. He is the All-knowing God and we must leave the unknowable to HIM. Prayer is the voice of faith and faith does not question God’s ways. Access to God’s throne is always open and He is willing to hear your prayer. His Word tells us in Ephesians 2:18, “For through Him (Jesus), we have access to the Father by one Spirit.”

Also God has invited us to come to Him, as stated in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us the approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”  We need to respond to this open invitation, and come to Him in awe and gratitude.

One reason for not receiving answers from God is that sin may be standing in the way. His Word says in Isaiah 59:1-2, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” Let us settle our account with God so that we can receive answers to our prayers.

God speaks through His Word to those who listen with their heart. We don’t want to miss the joy of hearing His voice. We need to hear His voice after we have prayed to Him and be ready to receive what he has got for us. Let us follow the example of Daniel, who focussed on worship and confession of the Word. Prayer was vital to Daniel as life itself. Daniel “turned to the Lord and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.” Daniel 9:3.

The bible tells us in James 5:16b-18, “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” We can see that God answers continual, powerful and effective prayers. We have to persist in our prayers until we receive answers from God.

In our quiet time with God, we have to be still and know that He is God and He will speak to us. Let us make an effort to pray without ceasing and stay connected to God all the time. We, as God’s children, should live in faith and have an exciting expectancy and quiet confidence that God will give us exactly what we need, when we need it. We will see Him working in our lives if we have prayed according to His will.

Our Heavenly father answers our prayers for His own name’s sake and not for our sake; and all the glory goes to Him. Always make it a habit to thank God for answered prayers and give Him praise, for He is worthy of our praise. Also, thank Him in advance, for all the miracles He is going to perform and expectations to answering your prayers. Thanksgiving is very important in our walk with God, as it exalts His name and He is much appreciated.  Child of God, enjoy your prayer times with the Almighty and be blessed.

Amen.”

Worry Is An Insult To God

Posted by admin on Feb 1st, 2010

Worry is a cause or feeling of anxiety over a particular incident or issue of life. A worried person becomes uneasy and frets about what might happen. Most of the time, they discover that there is no substance in what they are worried about!

Our Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 6:25-27, “Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

When you worry, you are telling God that He is not capable of handling the situation. He is the Almighty and it is an insult to think that He is not able to see you through that problem. He is more than able and He will even do exceedingly and abundantly above your expectations.

If God could feed the birds of the air and clothe the lilies of the field, He will do much more for you because you are precious in His sight. You are the apple of His eye and He loves you dearly. He wants you to cast all your cares onto His broad shoulders and you will be amazed at the wonders of our Almighty God.

I encourage you to put your faith to work and worry will be a thing of the past for you. You need to exercise your faith on a daily basis and seek His kingdom, which is righteousness, peace and joy. Once you do this, everything else will be added onto you and you will notice that worry will fade away for good.

Worry can never solve any problem but the Word of God can. The more you worry, the more disturbed you become and you will not be able to pray. The problem will them become enlarged and get out of control. But when you confess the Word of God about the situation, stand on it and you will see God move in a mighty way.

Child of God, Jesus is inviting you today to cast all your cares upon Him and He will sustain you. He will never let you fall as He has engraved you on the palms of His Hands. He cares for you so much and He wants you to lay all your anxiety at His feet, and He will take care of them, free of charge!

Refuse to worry, as God already knows what you are going through. He just wants you to trust Him and He will work things out for your own good. Do not allow discouragement to take root in your life. Be encouraged and believe that God is in the midst of all your challenges. You will have a testimony, to the glory of our Almighty Father. PEACE

Amen.”
