When you dwell in the shelter of someone, you come under the protection and covering of that person. You are in agreement with them because they are shielding you. They give you a refuge and protect you from anything that may want to harm you. You feel safe with them and trust them as long as you are under their shelter.

Dwelling in the shelter of the Most High God means accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then you will be under God’s covering and divine protection. Once you are under His shelter, you will trust Him completely and you will operate under His authority, covering and leadership. Our God is a willing, caring, available and trusted Confidant. Dwelling under God’s shelter is more powerful than dwelling under the shelter of man as God will never let you down.

He is our Strength, mighty Rock, Fortress, Stronghold and High Tower. King David ran to Him for refuge and he was a man after God’s heart. David says in Psalm 91:1-3, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust”. Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence”.

Once you are under God’s shelter, He will build a protective wall around you and no harm will befall you. You will be sheltered by God, who is above all gods. He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague. His wings will be a shield for you and His faithful promises will be your armour.

Evil will not overtake you because He will command His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will steady you with their hands to keep you from stumbling against the rock. If you remain under Jehovah’s shelter always, you can safely meet a lion or step on poisonous snake and even trample them under your feet. There will be no need for you to be afraid anymore, nor fear the dangers of the day. You will not dread the plagues of darkness nor disasters in the morning.

Child of God, I encourage you to be like King David who took shelter under the Most High God. He never regretted dropping his heavy load and running for cover under Jehovah. He loved the Lord and his heart was for Him. Hence, he was protected by the Almighty, even when he was in the war front. As the Lord fought David’s battles for him, He will fight yours as well, if you continue to dwell under His shelter. PEACE

PRAYER OF SALVATION

If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.”

Congratulations, if you have prayed this prayer. Please look for a Bible-believing church, to fellowship with the brethren. Please do not hesitate to contact me, if I can be of any assistance to you. Remain blessed and enjoy the presence of the Lord.

“Then Naomi said, “Wait, my daughter, until you find out what happens. For the man will not rest until the matter is settled today.” Ruth 3:18. This is part of the story of two great women of faith in the Bible. Ruth, (her name means friend), was the daughter-in-law of Naomi.

Ruth was married to one of Naomi’s sons, after the family moved from Bethlehem to Moab. “After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion (Naomi’s sons) died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband”. Ruth 1: 4b-5.

Ruth was committed and completely sold out to Naomi; she insisted on moving back to Bethlehem with her. Ruth knew that life had to continue and she was so focused. She positioned herself to fulfil divine destiny. She found favour in the eyes of a man called Boaz, (which means “in him is strength”). He was a nephew-in-law of Naomi and he was much older than Ruth. But Ruth took counsel from Naomi and did not argue with her. She continued to walk with God during difficult times and remained focused.

Boaz had to buy a plot of land, which belonged to Naomi’s husband, because the kinsman-redeemer pulled out. He also had to acquire Ruth, the widow of Naomi’s son. (Ruth 4:8-10). Both Boaz and Ruth restrained themselves until the law had been fulfilled. They had the right attitude – they were in love but they did not rush to do anything.

They wanted the Lord to be the centre of their relationship and fulfil the will of God in their lives. When the Lord is allowed to lead in a romantic courtship, it flows with the Grace of God. Boaz waited for the green light from the Lord and Ruth was co-operative. Boaz made the matter known to the elders of the town.

In spite of his wealth and position, he did not take control of the whole matter. He wanted God’s will to be done in his life. He was available to be used by God and also willing to be under HIS leadership.

Boaz did not let his status and riches take over and he wanted to see God’s plan unfold in his life. He took responsibility and positioned himself for God’s blessings. The marriage of Boaz and Ruth was definitely ordained by God and they feature in the genealogy of our Lord, Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5).

Child of God, I encourage you to wait and do not rush, especially in choosing a spouse. Let God lead you and do not even try to go ahead of HIM. If you make the wrong choice, you will live with the consequences. But if you wait for the Lord, as Ruth did, you can never go wrong. If you are under God’s leadership and remain focused on Him, you will enjoy His Peace.
