No Bus Stop In “Going-Through” Street – Part 1

Posted by admin on Oct 13th, 2009

Whatever you go through in life, God is in the midst of it. His Word says: “ I will never leave you nor forsake you”. Joshua 1:5b. God may be invisible, but He is in touch. You may not be able to see Him, but He is in control of every situation.

The answer to your problems is in God Himself. He is there by you, and upholding you with His righteous right Hand.

Let us look at the case of a woman called Hannah, in the Bible. Her name means grace or gracious and she was the first of the two wives of a man called Elkanah. The second wife, Peninnah, had children, but Hannah had none – 1 Samuel 1:2. She could not have any children because the Lord had closed her womb- 1 Samuel 1:5b.

God is a God of objectivity. He closed Hannah’s womb because He wanted to prepare that womb, as a Prophet was coming out of it later. In Hannah’s day, the stigma of childlessness was next to adultery. It was, simply stated, one of the worst afflictions a Jewish woman could bear. And Peninnah made sure that Hannah recalled that pain, on a regular basis.

The Bible says “ And because the Lord had closed her womb, her rival kept provoking her, in order to irritate her. This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the House of the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and she could not eat” 1 Samuel 1:6-7.

But there was no bus stop in the “Going-Through” street for Hannah. She had to endure the taunting from Peninnah because she knew she was only going through and she believed that she was coming out, with victory.

She also believed strongly that Her God is more than able to see her through. To this end, she kept going to the House of the Lord in Shiloh, year after year. Hannah was persistent and expectant.

The Bible says, “ In bitterness of soul, Hannah wept much and prayed to the Lord. And she made a vow saying “ O Lord Almighty, if you will look upon your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head” – 1 Samuel 1: 10-11.

The Lord answered Hannah’s prayer and blessed her with a son whom she named Samuel, saying “because I asked the Lord for him” 1 Samuel 1:20b.

Alleluia to God Almighty.

No Bus Stop In “Going-Through” Street – Part 2

You can see, from Hannah’s experience; the Lord hears when we cry out to Him for help. God was responsible for what happened in Hannah’s life and His timing is perfect. She lived up to her promise, bringing Samuel to the Temple and giving him to Eli, the priest.

What a great woman of faith! She refused to give up when she was going through, because she realised that there was no bus stop. She had to come out of it. Glory to God, Alleluia!

Whenever you are going through any unpleasant situation, I encourage you to remain focussed on God. Always remember that you are coming out, as there is no bus stop in the midst of it. There is no waiting, loading and no parking either. You have to keep moving and trusting God with all of your heart, like Hannah did.

She had a testimony at the end of her going-through. The Bibles tells of Hannah’s prayer of thanks: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies for I delight in your deliverance”. 1 Samuel 2:1.

She continued: “It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be shattered. He will thunder against them from heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to his king and exalt the horns of his anointed”. 1 Samuel 2:10.

What a testimony! You will also have a testimony like Hannah did. Just remember that the God, who did it for Hannah, is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is no respecter of persons; what He does for one, He will do for another. He will not leave you or forsake you. It is well with your spirit, soul and body. Amen

DO NOT GIVE UP – you are a winner and winners don’t quit.
