Divine favour is God-kind of goodwill and approval that He shows to us, for His Name’s sake. Because of His grace, which is unmerited favour, you can operate without struggling, if you focus on God Himself. We do not deserve this unmerited favour, but God decides to bestow it on us because of His love for us.
When you choose to obey the Word of God, favour will follow you and God makes sure you enjoy His favour to the fullest. His plan is to elevate you and He will give you joy in things, causing His favour and blessings to flow in your life. This God-kind of favour will go everywhere with you and people will know that you are operating under divine favour.
God’s divine elevation, in the sight of your enemies, will rest upon your life. The eyes of the Lord will go with you everywhere and cause you to have favour with all men. You will receive breakthrough ideas, which will open doors unto you and His kindness upon your life will extend to the Heavens.
The bible tells us in Genesis 4:4, “But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favour on Abel and his offering.” This is about the first two sons of Adam and Eve. Their names were Cain and Abel; Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepherd. When it was time for them to bring offerings to the Lord, Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil but Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock.
Cain did it his own way and God did not look with favour on his offering, so it was rejected. But Abel did it God’s way and brought the best to Him, by faith. And God accepted it and showed him favour. Abel decided to give God the best and this honoured God. When you honour God with all you have, divine favour follows you and God’s face will shine upon you.
Whoever finds God, finds life and receives favour from the Lord. When King Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, became the king of Israel, he did evil in the eyes of the Lord. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel and He kept them, for a long time, under the power of Hazael, King of Aram and Ben-Hadad, his son.
“Then Jehoahaz sought the Lord’s favour, and the Lord listened to Him, for He saw how severely the king of Aram was oppressing Israel. The Lord provided a deliverer for Israel, and they escaped from the power of Aram”. 2Kings 13:4-5b
