The bible says in Matthew 25:14-15, “Again the kingdom of God will be like a man on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one, he gave five talents of money, to another, two talents, and to another, one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey”.
Our God has packaged each and every one of us with different types of talents. They do not belong to us; they are to be used for God’s glory. These talents vary from one individual to the other. Hence you must not crave to have the same talent as your neighbour or be jealous of them.
The Lord wants you to push out the talents He has given you so that His will and purposes for your life may be fulfilled. He wants you to be fruitful as His Word says in Genesis 1:28, “ Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground”. God wants you to have dominion, which is power to rule and have authority.
The bible tells us more about the men who had been given some talents by their master. In Matthew 25: 16-18, the scripture reads, ”The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money”, because he was afraid.
The man who got the five talents was commended by his master and he was given five more; so also the man with the two talents. Their master told each of them, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness”. Matthew 25: 23.
But the man with the one talent was condemned as a “ wicked and lazy servant”, because he hid his talent in the ground. He was stripped of that one talent and it was given to the man who had doubled his five talents. I pray that this will not be your portion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Most of us are “pregnant” with the talents God has given us; there are business ideas inside of us. It is time to go into the “spiritual labour room” and give birth to these talents, for the Glory of God. We do not want to be like the man who buried his only talent. When you begin to make what you have available, to God, it will begin to multiply. Our God is looking for available people, who are ready to multiply their talents.
When God saved us by Grace, He did not save us so that we can sit back and enjoy ourselves. He saved us so that we can use our talents to evangelize to souls and win them for His kingdom. He will speak through us; our part is to sow the seed and He will water it Himself.
I would like to give a short testimony, to the Glory of God. When I was in secondary school, I hated needlework and cookery; I only knew how to cook our native foods and not foreign foods. A year after I met my Lord Jesus Christ and gave my life to Him, I discovered that God had already packaged the gifts of sewing and various types of cooking in me. He started giving me creative ideas and showed me how to sew by hand, and also how to cook various foreign foods. Praise God, I am now able to use these gifts to serve others, who need my help.
Child of God, I encourage you to use your talents to help others in the kingdom. Your local church needs your talent for the extension of the kingdom. Do not be afraid and let God be God in everything you do. When you serve God with your talents, He will increase you and bless you beyond your expectation and God’s name only will be glorified.
PRAYER OF SALVATION
If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.”
Congratulations, if you have prayed this prayer. Please look for a Bible-believing church, to fellowship with the brethren. Please do not hesitate to contact me, if I can be of any assistance to you. Remain blessed and enjoy the presence of the Lord.
