The Bible says in the book of Isaiah 49:16, “See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me”. If the Almighty God has engraved you on the palms of His hands, what can make you drop from His hands? Nothing whatsoever; as the Almighty is not like a man who holds you one minute and drops you the next minute.
“My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand together”. Isaiah 48:13. God is God and He is sovereign. His hands are broad and big enough to keep you safe at all times. “If I rise on the wings of dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast”. Psalm 139:10.
The Lord’s hand has been upon you right from your mother’s womb. He will not let go of His hand and drop you. He has promised that He will never leave you nor forsake you, and He wants you to “be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go”. Joshua 1:9
REPROACH WILL BE FAR FROM YOU
We read about the story of a man called Mephibosheth in the book of 2 Samuel 9:1-13. He was the son of Jonathan (David’s friend) and grandson of King Saul. Mephibosheth means reproach or shame. He was “lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became crippled”. 2 Samuel 4:4.
The nurse was trying to help the young Mephibosheth, but in the process, she dropped him and that was the beginning of his problems. A freak accident happened when the nurse dropped him, but in the end, God picked him up. Our God is mighty; He will never drop you, as He does not specialise in accidents. He specialises in the miraculous and the supernatural!
After Mephibosheth became crippled, He went to live in the house of a man called Makir (which means seller) in a place called Lo Debar (which means nothing or no pasture). No doubt, this was a tragedy for Mephibosheth. Now he was lame and living where there was no pasture. He had no inheritance, no hope and he was at the mercy of those of those who were looking after him.
But suddenly, one day, Mephibosheth’s story changed. “David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the household of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1. Ziba, a servant of Saul’s household put Mephibosheth’s name forward, for a blessing, as it was his turn to be blessed. David was told about him and within one day, he was moved from Lo Debar (nothing) to the king’s palace. David took the initiative and showed compassion to Mephibosheth’s plight.
“Don’t be afraid”, David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father, Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather, Saul and you will always eat at my table” 2 Samuel 9:7. Wow, Mephibosheth, who had no inheritance, was shown kindness by the king and promoted from pauper to prince. He was moved from prison of poverty to palace within 24 hours. What an awesome miracle! This was divine favour from the king to someone who was already written off by the storms of life.
Child of God, be encouraged as our God is still in the business of showing favour to His children. What He did for one, He will do for the other, as He is no respecter of persons. God will take you from your Lo Debar and bring you to a place of abundance. You will not suffer shame of reproach and you will eat at His table always, in Jesus’ matchless Name. Amen
PRAYER OF SALVATION
If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.”
Congratulations, if you have prayed this prayer, please look for a Bible-believing church, to fellowship with the brethren. Please do not hesitate to contact me, if I can be of any assistance to you. Remain blessed and enjoy the presence of the Lord.
