Thanksgiving is an act of gratitude to God. He is a just, kind, loving and compassionate God. When you thank Him for His goodness, you unlock the door to your breakthrough. Our God deserves praise and thanksgiving because He is God and there is none like Him.
The Psalmist says, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His Name, make known among the nations what He has done”. Psalm 105:1. Thanksgiving inspires the spirit of humility. It is a delight to show gratitude to God for His mercy, unending love, divine favour and protection. When you praise and thank God always, He will do exceedingly more than you ask or imagine, for His own glory.
At the dedication of the walls of Jerusalem, Nehemiah, the servant of God, had the leaders of Judah go up on top of the wall. He also assigned two large choirs to give thanks to the Lord. This was in appreciation to the goodness of God in helping Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah understood that he had no power of his own to do the work. He had to rely totally on the Lord to give him strength and power to carry the work to the end. Praise God forevermore!!
Thanksgiving is good as it deepens and strengthens our roots. When you celebrate and appreciate God, you are telling Him that He is very important in your life and He is the main focal point. When you focus on your problem, you are telling God that your problem is bigger than God. And that is not correct, as God is much bigger than any problem.
The bible says in Isaiah 12:4-6, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you”.
Thanksgiving is an act of sacrifice, discipline and godliness. Instead of complaining about a boring job or task, do it with a thankful heart. Thank God that you have that job or task to do and also thank Him that He has given you the strength to do it. Alleluia! When you do the job without complaining, God will promote you, as promotion comes from Him alone and not from man.
Be grateful always, as murmuring stinks in the nostrils of God.
Child of God, I encourage you to come before the Lord, always, with thanksgiving and not grumbling. The Israelites grumbled against God and He was not pleased with them at all. Be thankful to God because He always leads you and gives you the victory.
He watches over you and everything that concerns you. Thank Him for the privilege of life, as it is not our right that we are alive today. God has kept us alive to carry out assignments for him. I pray that we will all fulfil our God-given assignments, for His glory, in Jesus’ matchless Name. AMEN. PEACE.
PRAYER OF SALVATION
If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.”
Congratulations, if you have prayed this prayer. Please look for a Bible-believing church, to fellowship with the brethren. Please do not hesitate to contact me, if I can be of any assistance to you. Remain blessed and enjoy the presence of the Lord.
